MediaPlayer Add-on for Firefox

Ok so I was doing some programming and was tired of constantly switching windows to queue up new songs. I have been listening to some local rock radio stations from internet feeds but they suck. I Googled “rock radio internet” and the first choice was HardRadio.com. This is an awesome internet rock site if you like that sort of thing.

So I started browsing their page for some kind of link to start the feed like the local stations I was listening to put up. Instead I find this “Firefox Extension” link. Hmm. I clicked it, and it took me to a page to download some sort of plugin or whatever. I haven’t used any plugins for Firefox so this was entirely new to me. I installed the plugin and was then forced to straighten out my Macromedia Flash Player.

Aside from the torture that was correctly configuring Flash Player (which is owned by everyones favorite company, Adobe), the experience was pretty good. HardRadio showed me that any site that looks like it has some sort of media on it, just hit Ctrl+Shift+M to search the page for any media sources. It’s really neat, you have to check it out.

$34 for a CD? No way!

If you’re looking for a reason to start using bitTorrent or other means of obtaining your music such as iTunes, consider this: The RIAA believes that music CD’s should be selling for much more, three times more to be exact, than the current price.

I stopped buying CD’s years ago, ever since most of them I bought were basically 8 or 9 songs, with one good song. The rest of the songs were horrible, and the band failed to make any other music. Now where is the justification in charging $34 for a CD that a good portion of the time only has one song worth listening to? I’ll buy or download my music thank you very much. Keep living in a world without the internet RIAA.

Homemade bunkers: Odd, but kind of cool

Ok so I was looking around again and I found this house for sale that looks pretty innocent. It has a good location, in good condition, and has a custom-made fall-out shelter. Why? Why not I guess. It seems the guy is pretty skilled with a bag of cement and all that. So if there’s ever a nuclear war and you want to be close to a bomb-shelter, this house is for you.

Hi, I’m Steve, and welcome to the Neat Blog. I decided to make a blog because there is a lot of cool stuff in the world that I like. I’m currently in college trying to get my engineering degree and doing so has made me interested in all things technology. Sometimes I surf the internet for hours going from page to page following links of the most random stuff. Whenever I find something neat worth writing about, I’ll post it on here so check back frequently. Feel free to comment with any suggestions of things you find as well.
